I was kindly sent this book from Austin Macauley Publishers in exchange for an honest review. My Sister’s My Teacher by Jane Burns is a hilarious tale of sibling rivalry, friendship and bullying. I loved reading this story, it kept me entertained from beginning to end. I think I would have loved reading it when I was 11.Samantha Winters is a strong, mischievous 11 year old who was determined to stop her sister Angela from continuing as her teacher. The story is told through Samantha’s point of view. I liked how Sam’s relationship with her sister developed throughout the book. As a teacher myself it was easy to sympathise with Angela as she begins her teaching journey. Sam’s whole family was great to read about, I especially enjoyed reading about her Grandmother and all her antics. Family, friendship and standing up for yourself were strong themes throughout the book.Overall, I would certainly recommend the book to any child/teen looking for a funny read that deals with bullying, friendship and family problems.
